Connor's hair was getting completely out of control. I do not like it when he starts getting this DUCK tail at the back of his neck; that pretty much tells us it's time to cut it. But we DREAD taking him to the stylist. Our good friend Maria cuts our family's hair, but when it comes to Connor, he's just too difficult. So we started taking him to Cutz 4 Kidz (you know, those places with DVD player and bubble makers, and what-have-you-not?), but same thing. He would scream, cry, and try his best to get away from the airplane. So, Anne Victory, his new babysitter, told me last week that she was taking her kids, in case we would like her to cut his hair, too. YES! And of course, did he cry like crazy? No! Did he kick and scream and not let them cut it??? NO!!! I swear, this kid is just soooo good with ANYONE but his MOM! But this was the end result, isn't he cute? Noni and Papa came back from Mexico, and of course, my parents sent us a few presents: A BEAUTIFUL cross

Happy, happy!!!

My sister Alejandra is having TWINS!!! She's my second youngest sister, and this is her first pregnancy. Yesterday she got the news that they are having twins, and dad just called to let me know. This is their first kid (set of kids, now!) and she and hubby Oscar are so excited! I am also giggling inside... they have NO CLUE what's coming her way (HA!). Congratulations, you two!! Noni and Papa are visiting my parents in Mexico. Mom and dad have been inviting them over since they met, there was very good chemistry amongst them. They were going to visit them back in April, but then my grandma passed away, and they had to cancel. I cannot wait to see the pictures that Noni will bring. They arrived on the eve of mom's birthday, so dad had a serenade for mom at midnight. Very traditional, so that my inlaws can get a good feeling of what the culture and the traditions are all about. Noni and Papa are having a good time, and so are mom and dad! Last weekend, at mass, I really lo

Rainy days and Mondays...

they do always get me down... but yesterday I was determined NOT to get down at all. So, my handy dandy sewing machine came to the rescue. Remember what the old pillows on our couch looked like? (and by the way, this is what the house looks like again without Brian... I hate it when he travels...) Well, these are the pillows now... Now, if only I could learn how to make slipcovers for my furniture... wonder if it's too complicated? Maybe I'll try to find some tutorial online... drop me a line if you know of a good one!

All day long, I had to type this date, and each time I felt a physical reaction in my body. I cannot explain it. It wasn't pain, but it was like a blow of sorts to my stomach. By the end of the day, I was just exhausted of remembering that day 7 years ago. The confusion. The horror. The incredulity. The utter disbelief. Some would like to forget. Some would like to think it didn't hapen. Some would like to believe that when we are nice, others are nice back to us. Sometimes I try to think like a kid, too. I try to put on rose colored glasses and think that evil does not exist, and it's all relative. And then, things like a date -a simple date, two words: nine eleven- bring me back to adulthood and reality. Even more sobering, I heard about this today. I had to go online and look for the story, because I could not believe it. And then I knew there is no room for childhood dreams or stupidity and indecision. This is what we are facing today. Makes me sad. Makes me thank our s

Happy birthday, Cesar!

My dad called Cesar today to say happy birthday, and I couldn't put it in better words: May you grow in wisdom, faith and in the grace of God, Cesar. We love you dearly! 14 years old today. Each time more challenging, each time closer to becoming a young man. So scary, yet so promising. Coco 's first "formal" game was last Saturday. She was in paradise, although she was a bit dissapointed that "somebody" kicked her leg... We had to tell her it is all part of the game! She also wanted everyone to pay attention to her game 100% of the time, and Connor would just not obligue... Connor got this little number at the baby sitter... it wouldn't be Connor without a scar, what can I say. His hair is looking more than Shaggy, but I DREAD the day i have to take him for a haircut... We'll hold out as long as we can. Or maybe I'll just shave him as he sleeps. Also last weekend I went on a 3 day scrapbooking "retreat" at a Hampton Inn close to home (

A few weeks ago, after work, I heard Brian scolding Cesar. (If you don't know it, Brian and I work from home, so my office is just a few steps from the kitchen, so i can hear pretty well) He was starting to sound VERY unhappy, especially because Cesar wouldn't own up to his mistake. OUCH! So, here I come into the kitchen and start listening in: BRIAN: "What do you mean you didn't take them? Are you hording them? Did you hide them?" CESAR: "Brian, I didn't take them, really" BRIAN: "What do you mean you didn't take them? Coco and Connor can't reach them. Mom wouldn't take them, and they did NOT grow legs". ME: "What are you guys talking about?" BRIAN: "It's just that we had the gumballs' container almost to the middle this morning, and now, there's barely one layer of them. The only one who could have done it is Cesar, and he won't even tell the truth!" ME: "Eh... mmmhhhh ... did we have t
